Most of the work you will see on this site is wheel thrown and high fired in a gas kiln. However, some of the work is hand built or sculptural in nature. The cookware is low fired and can be used in an oven, microwave or over an open flame.
All of the high fire work is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. Because it is meant to be used and enjoyed we use only food safe glazes which we mix ourselves, so we know there are no toxic elements included.
Each piece is individually hand made, therefore there will be some variation. When items are in sets they will be similar, but no two pieces will be exactly the same. Also, I am in love with elusive glazes and atmospheric firing. What this means is that even when using exactly the same technique, glaze, clay, there will still be variation in the look of the pieces depending on the fire and placement in the kiln. Variety is indeed the spice of life!
Most of my time is spent making functional ware, but I also make the occasional decorative piece and will do custom work, such as the Pirate Wedding Cake topper pictured to the left.
